The Provisional Government of Azad Hind was the Indian nationalist Government-in-exile that controlled some small parts of India in the 1940s, before India became and independent nation in 1947. They played a very active role in the fight against the British Empire and were a worldwide reference for their nonviolent protests against the British occupation. They even produced some coins to promote their political agenda. These coins were struck right before India achieved its independence from Great Britain.
