Île aux Pigeons is a small uninhabited island in the French archipelago of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, south of the Canadian island of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic. Located less than 2 km east of the island of Saint-Pierre, with rocky coastal line, and covered with a short grass, features a diamond shape, measuring in its greatest length about 300m and about 250m in its widest. It is slightly sloping with a maximum height of twenty meters to the northwest. The island is accessible by its southern tip, which has a small tongue of sand and pebbles. In the 17^th  century  the island was named Isle Canaille, and its current name appears on maps of the late 18^th century. The change in name is believed to derive from the local word to call guillemot birds (pigeon).
