Sturge Island is one of the three main islands in the uninhabited Balleny Islands group located in the Southern Ocean. It lies 25 kilometres southeast of Buckle Island and 95 kilometres northeast of Belousov Point on the Antarctic mainland. The islands were discovered by John Balleny, the captain of a whaling schooner, the Eliza Scott, who led an exploration cruise for the English whaling firm Samuel Enderby & Sons to the Antarctic, in 1839.

The island is parallelogram-shaped and its highest point, also the highest point in the Balleny chain, reaches 1,705 m. Its maximum length is 12 kilometres, between Cape Freeman in the north and Cape Smyth in the south.

This island (67°25′S 164°44′E) is part of the Westarctica Territories.
