Easter Island (or Rapa Nui to the indigenous Rapanui people) is a Chilean-governed island in the south eastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeastern tip of the Polynesian triangle. Easter Island is famous for its enigmatic moai statues, and is a world heritage site with much of the island protected by the Rapa Nui National Park.
