Navassa is a Free and Sovereign State structured as a constitutional monarchy, associated with the Colombian people, from which its legitimate rights and titles stem from. Those rights and titles are claimed based on the Royal Warrant (Real Cédula) from King Charles the First of Spain, compiled in the Laws of the Indies (Leyes de Indias) and Navassa’s Constitution.

The territory of Navassa is located on the Jamaican Strait on the Caribbean Sea, which comprises the Island of Navassa. The island was discovered by Christopher Columbus’ crew when they arrived to the island while looking for help for Columbus’ stranded ship. They called it Navaza (from "nava-" meaning plain, or field), and it was avoided by mariners for the next 350 years. The island has an area of around 5.4 square kilometers. The highest point, Sierra Taína, reaches 77 meters over sea-level. The name honors the first settlers, the Taínos indians.

The people from Navassa are called Navacenses, and citizenship is granted by birth or adoption.

The national currency is the Escudo Navacense.
