Wright Island is an ice cover island, some 60 kms long, lying at the
north edge of Getz Ice Shelf about midway between Carney Island and
Martin Peninsula, on Marie Byrd Land (Antarctica). It was discovered
by the U.S. Navy in 1947 and it was named after Admiral J. Wright,

the U.S. Navy's Deep Freeze operations during the IGY, 1957-58. This
island is part of the Westarctican Territories.
