This archipelago is located in the Caribbean Sea, just a few miles off
the eastern half of Panama’s northern shores. This series of small,
low-lying tropical islands includes about 36 that are inhabited/owned by
Panama’s most widely known indigenous group, the Kuna (also spelled
Cuna). These tranquil tropical islands are part of an autonomous
territorial reserve known since 1998 as the Comarca Kuna Yala.
