"An organization designed in the form of an independent and sovereign state” based in Madison, Wisconsin (USA). “As defined by its Constitution, Antoninia is an independent, sovereign, self ruling entity.” Founded by Quintus Poppaeus Sabinus (Mr. John Carlson), its Declaration of Sovereignty was announced on November 26, 2752 AUC (1999 CE).

The Conch Republic was founded in the early 1980s by business owners annoyed by the negative commercial impact of a roadblock established at the entrance to the Florida Keys by the US Border Patrol in an effort to curtail the alleged transport of narcotics and illegal immigrants to the US mainland. The resulting 20 mile-long traffic jam proved a deterrent to visiting tourists, and on 23 April 1982, the citizens of Key West seceded from the Union, hoisted their flag, declared war on the United States, and then quickly surrendered - in order to qualify for "foreign aid" to rebuild their shattered economy. The unique form of this political protest captured national attention, forcing the removal of the roadblock, and more than two decades later the anniversary of the Conch Republic's founding remains a cause for annual celebration.

The Federation of Damanhur is a commune, ecovillage and spiritual community situated in the Piedmont region of northern Italy about 50 km north of the city of Turin. The Kingdom of Elleore was established in 1944 when a group of schoolteachers purchased the small island of Elleore in the firth of Roskilde, for use as a summer camp, and then proclaimed its independence from Denmark.

Located in Okertal, a narrow valley surrounded by high mountains within the region of Oberharz, in Germany's Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) state. Romkerhall was built in the 19th century by King George V, and the property belonged to his Kingdom of Hanover. He refused to support Prussia in the Austro-Prussian War (1866), and consequently lost his kingship. This monarchy was annexed in 1871 by Prussia as a province, until the German Empire came to an end in 1918. The current owner is Baron Walter Lechner who purchased this former princely estate after a fire. He claims that the surrounding territory was forgotten about and never formally attached to a particular parish; the mistake was repeated in 1970, whence it again went unassigned after a general reformation/regional reorganization of the parishes. He took advantage of this opportunity by attracting Princess Erina von Sachsen, Duchess to Saxonia, to his miniscule piece of municipality-free, independent land. She, married to Prince Thimo (grandchild of the last king of Saxony, Friedrich-August III, who was deposed in the aftermath of World War I), was enthroned as acting Queen in 1988; on that same day, his establishment was proclaimed the “world's smallest Kingdom”. Since then, Romkerhall has been the cause of continuous quarrels between the Baron and the German government and its aristocracy.
